Charles ShookPartner
Prior to founding TCP in 2003, Charles
helped build and lead the private equity group
of Harbert Management Corporation (HMC).
HMC is a diversified alternative asset management
firm based in Birmingham, AL that manages capital
for a Forbes 400 family, as well as for third
party institutional and high net worth investors.
In his role at HMC, Charles, along with a small
team of dedicated private equity professionals,
sourced, executed and managed a diversified portfolio
of private equity investments.
In addition to his private equity
experience, Charles has worked as an investment
banker with Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc.,
a leading regional investment bank, and as a management
consultant for FMI Corporation, the largest consulting
firm in the country focused exclusively on construction
and construction-related industries.
Charles received a B.A. in economics
from the University of North Carolina and an M.B.A.
from the Darden School of Business at the University
of Virginia.
Preston EdmondsonPartner
Preston was most recently Senior
Vice President in charge of the Corporate Finance
Department at Paragon Commercial Bank where he
was tasked with developing the corporate finance
function at Paragon from the ground up. In that
role, Preston co-advised a number of M&A advisory
engagements with TCP and generated a number of
compelling investment opportunities. Preston’s
work focuses on sourcing investment opportunities
in addition to providing oversight and guidance
to certain portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Paragon, Preston
started and built Capital Holdings Group (“CHG”)
into a successful merchant bank focused on providing
capital and operating guidance to emerging growth
companies. At CHG he helped emerging growth companies
access capital and provided them with hands-on
guidance through interim management positions.
Preston started his career in accounting
as a CPA working with both Deloitte & Touche
and Coopers & Lybrand.
Andy KellPrincipal
Prior to joining TCP in 2003, Andy
worked as an investment banker with Greenhill
& Co. and Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York,
specializing in mergers and acquisitions. While
in New York, Andy completed fourteen M&A transactions
with a combined transaction value of $8.5 billion
along with two private equity transactions that
each deployed $10 million in capital.
Andy received a B.B.A. summa cum
laude in Finance / Organizational Behavior and
Business Policy from Southern Methodist University,
where he was a Presidents Scholar, and an
M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler Business School
at the University of North Carolina, where he
was a Bank of America Fellow.
